Bloom Bank theft Case: TNB CEO granted Le200M bail

Abdulai Barrie, a thirty-two-year-old businessman and Chief Executive Officer of Transnational Business (TNB), appeared for the fourth time before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No. 1.

He faces charges related to conspiracy to defraud and larceny by servant, stemming from incidents alleged to have occurred at Bloom Bank, Sierra Leone Limited.

Abdulai Barrie’s defense counsel, Abdulai Barrie A.S Bah, expressed frustration over the lack of progress in the case and renewed their bail application.

Magistrate Sahr Kekura granted bail to the accused in the sum of two hundred million Leones, with two sureties required, both employed in recognized institutions. Additionally, one of the sureties must possess a title deed.

The charges against Abdulai Barrie include conspiracy to defraud and two counts of larceny by servant. It is alleged that between November 13th and 19th, he conspired with others to defraud Bloom Bank of One Million Eight Hundred and Eighty-One Thousand, One Hundred and Fifty-Three New Leones and Ninety-Five cents (NLe 1,881,153.95).

 Additionally, as CEO of TNB, a contracted sub-agent for Bloom Bank, he is accused of stealing Eight Hundred and Eighty-One Thousand, One Hundred and Fifty-Three New Leones and Ninety-Five cents (NLe 881,153.95) and One Million New Leones (NLe 1,000,000.00) on separate occasions.

The case was adjourned to May 21st, 2024, with ASP Ibrahim Mansaray prosecuting the matter.
