Police officer charged for alleged murder

35-year-old Alpha Bash Osman Kamara, a police officer, made his first appearance before  Magistrate Sahr Kekura of the Pademba Road Court No 1 in Freetown for alleged murder contrary to Section 1 of the Offense Against the Persons’ Act 1861 as repealed and replaced by Section (1)(a) to the schedule of the Abolition of Death Penalty Act 6 of 2022.

It was alleged that, the accused, on Monday, 1st January, 2023, at New London, Kossoh Town in Freetown, murdered Issa Kanu.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, I.S Mansaray, sought for a short adjourned date for him to bring his witness to court.

Magistrate Sahr Kekura denied bail and sent the accused to the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown, and adjourned the matter to the 9 February, 2024.
