Accused jailed 3 months for fraud

Thirty-nine-year-old Leslie Wilson, made his first appearance before Magistrate Peter Brima Gogra of the Pademba Road Court No.6 in Freetown.

The accused person is standing trial on a count charge of obtaining money by false pretenses contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act 1916.

It was alleged that the accused person between the 1st March and the 30th May,2023, at No.19 Nicole Terrace, Wellington in the Eastern part of Freetown, with intent to defraud, obtained the sum of eighth thousand Leones from Muctarr Deen Koroma by falsely pretending that he has one room and a palour self-contained apartment with toilet, knowing same to be false.

When the charge was read and explained to the accused person he pleaded guilty.

The accused person was represented by a legal representative and he pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy.

The prosecutor told the court that there were no available records against the accused person.

Inspector Edna Musu Kpulun was prosecuting the matter.
