Three alleged armed robber remanded in custody

Abdulrahman Fofanah, Abdul Koroma, and Maueya Deen have been remanded in the Male Correctional Center by Magistrate Sahr Kekura, presiding at Pademba Road Court No. 1.

The accused persons appeared before the court facing eleven counts of conspiracy and store-breaking, contrary to Section 23(1) of the Larceny Act of 1961, as now replaced by Section 2 of the 1971 Act.

When the charges were read and explained, no pleas were taken from the accused persons.

According to police charges, it is alleged that on May 9, 2024, at Marjay Town, Freetown, the accused persons conspired together with others unknown to commit felony robbery with aggravation.

It is further alleged that armed with guns and machetes, they robbed Ramatulia Kamara of various items including a black Samsung Galaxy phone, assorted gold bracelets, gold chains, gold wristwatches, and cash, totaling Three hundred and Ninety-Three thousand six hundred Leones.

Additionally, on the same date and place, the accused persons, armed with short guns and machetes, robbed Fatmata Jalloh, Martha Mansaray, Aminata Kamara, Fatima Kamara, Alice Matta Jusu, Sheku Mansaray, and Abubakar Kargbo of various mobile phones and other valuables.

Count eleven alleges that the accused persons maliciously assaulted Ramatulia Kamara, causing her actual bodily harm.

The accused persons were not represented by legal counsel.

Prosecutor ASP Mansaray called the first witness, Ramatulia Kamara, who was unable to testify due to trauma. The prosecution requested a date for the witness to recover, which was granted by Magistrate Sahr Kekura.

The matter was adjourned to June 10 for further proceedings.
