Ibrahim Kamara, a police officer, made his first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No. 1 and has been remanded to the Male Correctional Center.

Kamara is standing trial on a charge of unlawful possession of prohibited drugs, contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

The prosecution alleges that on March 27, 2024, at Mile 13 in the Freetown rural area, Kamara was found in possession of suspected dried leaves, believed to be Kush, wrapped in a black plastic bag.

Magistrate Sahr Kekura noted in his ruling that the defense had brought several witnesses to court, all of whom had given evidence regarding the case, and relevant statements had been tendered in court. Subsequently, the matter has been committed to the High Court for further hearings.
