Magistrate Peter Gogra of the National Social Security Insurance Trust (NASSIT) Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Isaac King-Green, a Director at the Sierra Leone Road Transport Corporation (SLRTC), and mandated that both King-Green and SLRTC representatives be brought before him.
The warrant was issued following an application by UDF Sesay Esq of NASSIT. The case involves charges against SLRTC and King-Green for failing to pay social security contributions, in violation of Section 32(1)(c) of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) Act No.5 of 2001.
The indictment states that between January and March 2023, SLRTC and King-Green, as an establishment and employer under the NASSIT Act, failed to pay social security contributions totaling 60,079.69 Leones for their employees within the required period. The alleged non-payment occurred at Blackhall Road, Kissy in Freetown.
Neither the defendants nor their legal representatives were present in court. The matter was adjourned to June 29, 2024, for further proceedings.
