Gibrilla S. Turay, residing at #1 Saint Paul’s Drive, IMATT, Freetown, is standing trial on a private criminal summons for fraudulent conversion under Section 20 (1) (4) (B) of the Larceny Act 1916.
The Principal Magistrate, Shar Kekura, of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown released Turay on bail for an alleged fraud involving $45,000.
According to the details of the offense, on April 24, 2022, at Youyi Building in Freetown, Turay fraudulently converted a white 2018 Lexus Jeep valued at $45,000.
The vehicle was entrusted to him by the complainant, Michael Kamara, for the purpose of sale, but Turay allegedly converted it to his own use.
Turay pleaded not guilty when the charges were read and explained to him. His counsel, Charles Abass Bangura, applied for bail on his first appearance, which was granted.
The complainant’s counsel, Ibrahim S. Y. Kamara Esq., requested a short adjournment and Magistrate Kekura adjourned the matter to June 24, 2024, for further proceedings.
