Four on remand for alleged robbery with aggravation

Christophe John  alias ‘Arkor’ and three others made another appearance before Magistrate Mark Ngeba of Court No.1 for  alleged robbery with aggravation, and they were remanded at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road in Freetown.

The four accused persons were standing trial on six count charges to wit conspiracy to commit felony, robbery with aggravation, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, robbery with aggravation, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, wounding with intent, wounding and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Police alleged that Christophe John alias ‘Arkor’, Osman Tarawalie, Mohamed Kamara alias ‘Alkaline’ and Ibrahim Koroma alias ‘Dino’ on the 7th March, 2023, at No:89 New Castle Street, Kissy in Freetown, conspired with other persons unknown to commit felony to wit robbery with aggravation.

 It was alleged that the accused persons on the above date and place, being armed with cutlasses and knives,robbed one Adetunji Winston Taylor one Samsung S20 Galaxy valued (NLE 17, 000, 00), one dell computer valued (NLE 10, 000, 00), fiscal cash of (NLe $1000), one ps4 pro valued (NLE 8,720,00), one black and white Adidas bag  valued (NLE 1,050,00), (NLE 3000,00) contained in the said bag, one brown wallet valued (NLE 436,00), Medical and Dental Card valued (NLE 1,200,00) bank ATM Card valued ( NLE 300,00), National ID Card valued (NLE 150,00), one gold wrist watch valued (NLE 3,270,00), two Black Wrist Watches valued (NLE 1000,760), four black and white Puma sneakers valued (NLE 4360,00), two black and white power banks valued ( NLE 3,270,00) all to the total sum of ( NLE 90,386,00), property of Adetunji Winston Taylor.

It was alleged that the accused on the above mentioned place and date, assaulted Cecilla Coker in a manner that caused her actual bodily harm.

Police alleged that all the accused persons on the above date and place assaulted Adetunji Winston Taylor in a manner that cause occasioning actual bodily harm.

It was further alleged that the accused persons on the above mentioned date and address in Freetown, wounded Abu Bakarr Kamara with intent to do him grievous bodily harm.

It was alleged that all accused persons on the above diverse date and address, maliciously wounded Abu Bakarr.

The accused were alleged to have assaulted Abu Bakarr Kamara in a manner that cause occasioning actual bodily harm. 

The prosecution led in a witness to testify  in court, Cecilia Coker, recognised the first accused, whom, he said  was helping his uncle to wash his car and recalled on the above said date at around 2am.

She said she was sleeping in her room when she felt someone tapped her on her right shoulder, but that she thought that it was her cousin who tapped her

She  said to her surprise she saw five armed men standing in the room with their face covered with mask and asked her to keep quiet.

She narrated that the robbers asked for money and gold chains.

She said she replied that the phone and the money were in her bag atop a small stool near her wardrobe, adding that they took away the two purses inside her bag containing money and also took her gold watch and sliver watch.

She said they also removed the gold necklace on her neck and that in the process the locket of the chain fell on the ground, so they pushed her out to the living room where she saw so many armed men standing

The Matter was adjourned to the 14 June 2023 for further hearing.
