International Labour Organization on Tuesday 16th July 2024, at Radisson Blu Mammy Yoko Hotel Aberdeen, Freetown, held a workshop to raise Resources to support the government on the Feed Salone Project.
Representation from Sierra Leone Labour Congress Nellieta Stack Davies in her statement said they welcome and support ILO for supporting the government in bringing different projects especially in the area of Agriculture.
She disclosed that Labour Congress is working with employers and the government to see that employees are well treated in their work places and they will monitor the project that ILO is implementing in Sierra Leone.
Mrs. Chinyere Emwka Anuna Senior Programme Officer ILO County Office Abuja in her statement said they are in Sierra Leone to support the Steering Committee of the DWCP Ii as it was established in December 2023.
She further stated that ILO have to see the DWCP Project Ii is well established and implemented.
Madam Emeka went on to say, they will continue to support the government to see decent work is achieved in the project through the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Employment.
In his key note address, Deputy Minister of Labour, Mohamed Lansana Dumbuya as the government is creating 500, 000 jobs for young people, International Labour Organization (ILO) is part of that to help the government in implementing the job creation.
Dumbuya said the journey started in 2010 by ILO in supporting the government in job creation by bringing different projects especially agriculture when women are the most employees including disabled people.
The phase ii projects started in 2023 and will expand to 2027.
He end up saying ILO is behind the government to see that young people are gainfully employed.
