In a remarkable collaborative effort, Leone Rock Metal Group (LRMG) joined hands with the 24th Batch of the China Medical Team to deliver essential medical services and free clinics to its employees in its mining site and operational community of Kegbama Village in Tonkolili district on the 26th February, 2024. This initiative has had a significant impact, benefiting hundreds of vulnerable children, mothers, and the 5000 plus employees (both Chinese and nationals) of LRMG.
The medical team offered a wide range of services including Neurology, internal medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, Chirurgery, malaria testing, and the provision of medicines among other crucial medical interventions. This holistic approach to healthcare underscores LRMG’s commitment to prioritizing the health and well-being of its employees and the communities in which it operates.
LRMG’s longstanding partnership with the China Medical Team has been instrumental in bringing skilled health professionals and physicians to its sites in Pepel and Tonkolili. This collaboration has been met with appreciation from employees who value the proactive approach to healthcare that this partnership has facilitated.
The company’s dedication to “Safety first” is further exemplified through its Health Safety and Environment initiatives, which have implemented a range of safety measures to prevent injuries and mitigate health risks both at its mines and among its employees and operational communities.
Following the comprehensive check-ups, the distribution of medicines, and the delivery of medical advice, both employees and community members expressed their gratitude for the proactive and caring management of LRMG. LRMG will continue to reiterate the power of healthcare and in creating healthier and more resilient workforce and communities in Sierra Leone with action and will continue to “give back” to the people of Sierra Leone.
