Over 200 youth delegates from across the country, who were involved in the Ebola response, will this morning commence a three-day ‘Youth Leadership Forum on Ebola Response and Recovery’ at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Aberdeen in the west of Freetown.
The forum is being organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, together with the National Youth Commission, and in partnership with Restless Development and the Youth and Child Advocacy Network (YACAN).
Participants include social mobilisers, contact tracers, nurses, surveillance workers, burial team members, and DERC workers, among others, covering all districts across Sierra Leone.
The forum will pay particular attention to the contribution of young people in the fight against Ebola, and their continued commitment to ensuring Sierra Leone attains zero Ebola status.
Various speakers include CEO of the National Ebola Response Centre, Ret. Maj. Alfred Palo Conteh, Minister of Health and Sanitation Dr. Abubakarr Fofanah, Ministry of Youth Affairs Alimamy Kamara, Deputy British High Commissioner Duncan Hill, and First Lady, Mrs. Sia Nyama Koroma.
The forum ends on Friday May 29.
