Sierra Leone female junior lawn tennis champion, Matu Kamara, is currently in Thailand undergoing training and educational work.

According to the national lawn tennis coach, Amidu Dumbuya, the youngster was able to secure the scholarship through a philanthropist, Sarah Johnson, who he said over the years has been helpful toward the development of young lawn tennis players in the country.

Dumbuya further revealed that Matu is expected to compete in her first tournament later this month in Thailand because of her good ranking with the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

“We are grateful to Sarah for this opportunity given to the young player, this is good news not only for us but also for the player. We hope this will inspire the others,” coach Dumbuya said, adding that they are hoping to get more scholarships of such nature from Sarah.
