Wounding case goes to High Court

OCTOBER 31, 2014  By Patricia Johnson

A wounding case involving one Alusine Sesay was yesterday committed to the High Court by Magistrate Mohamed Serray-Wurie of the Pademba Road Magistrates’ Court No.2.

The accused was arraigned on three counts of wounding with intent, wounding and larceny, contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone, after he was alleged to have wounded one John Kanawally Conteh at the Congo Town bridge on 18 October with the intent to do him grievous bodily harm.

Before committal of the matter, the magistrate noted that he had considered the statement of the accused to the police, particulars of offence and testimonies by prosecution witnesses. He said he was convinced that the prosecutor had adduced sufficient evidence that connects the accused to the offence, hence the need for a trial at the High Court.

The accused told the court that he would call witnesses when the matter comes up at the High Court.

He was remanded at the male Correctional Center on Pademba Road as he awaits trial at the High Court.
