28 years old Christin Monokor, who pleaded guilty to the offence of manslaughter, has been sentenced to Five (5) years imprisonment at the Freetown Female Correctional Centre for killing her Husband.
Monkor was standing trial before Justice A.S Alieu for the offence of manslaughter contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.
According to the State Prosecutor, P. Hasting Spaine, the accused on the 19th of December, 2019, in No. 4 John Street off Old Road Kamajor Bridge Waterloo, Western Rural District, unlawfully killed one Moses More Grac.
During the trial, the convict severally told the court that she wanted to change her initial not guilty plea to guilty.
The convict had admitted to the police that she killed the deceased, her husband.
After the murder charge was replaced with manslaughter, Justice Alieu asked the clerk to read the charge again to the accused person, who pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
Justice Alieu said because the accused did not waste the court’s time, he sentenced her to 5 years imprisonment for the offense of manslaughter.
According to the convict, the deceased was her husband, with whom they have been in relationship for a very long time, and they have three children together.
