Wife remanded for stabbing husband to death

Presiding Magistrate of the Freetown Magistrates’ Court No.1, Dr. Abou Bhakarr Binneh Kamara, in his preliminary investigation, last Friday 5th ,May, 2017 remanded one Fatmata Kamara aka Wotho at the Freetown Female Correctional Centre for allegedly stabbing her husband, Alpha Kamara to death.

The accused, who made her first appearance last Friday, 5th May, 2017, was in court on one count charge of murder, contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

Police Prosecutor, Inspector Hawa Bah, alleged that the accused on Tuesday, 18th April, 2017, at Moa Wharf in the Freetown judicial district murdered her husband, Alpha Kamara.

According to police report  in the court file, on Tuesday, 18th April, 2017, at about 13:10, one Ibrahim Kamara, who was residing at Moa Wharf community, assisted by Police Sergeant 861, Joseph Conteh and team attached to the Operation Department at the Eastern Police Division in Freetown, arrested and brought to the station the accused person.

The report stated that on the 18th April, 2017, the accused stabbed her husband with a knife in his stomach, and subsequently died at the Connaught Hospital, while undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, the accused who was unrepresented, was remanded to prison as the matter continues.
