‘We’ll not allow Ebola to ravage Kaffu Bullom’

…SLSAV Director

SEPTEMBER 26, 2014 By Victoria Saffa

Director of Sierra Leone Social Aid Volunteer (SLSAV) has assured residents of Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom in the Port Loko District that his organization would do all it can to ensure that the deadly Ebola disease does not ravage the chiefdom.

Speaking at a sensitization meeting, Alfred Alex Jatta Dumbuya said SLSAV would continue sensitizing communities about the disease, not least because the district has been isolated.

He averred that “the chiefdom is yet to record any case of Ebola since the outbreak started in May because of our massive sensitization on the dos and don’ts of the virus.”

He advised residents of the chiefdom to restrict themselves from travelling in and out of the chiefdom and to avoid body contact and to wash their hands regularly with soap.

“Please be aware that your chiefdom is part of Port Loko District and it is easy for you to contact the virus. Stop moving in and out of the district,” he urged.

Dumbuya used the meeting to donate scores of rubber buckets, chlorine and soap to residents.

Also speaking, Chiefdom Speaker, Maylie Kamara, admitted that the chiefdom is vulnerable to the spread of the Ebola virus and called on the government to provide adequate information and materials in order prevent new cases.

He expressed thanks and appreciation to the organization for their massive support to the chiefdom even prior to the outbreak.
