WAFA halts six mini Leagues

Western Area Football Association (WAFA) has on Monday, March 6 put on hold six mini leagues under their purview with immediate effect.

The six affected leagues; Camp Diva of Kroo Bay field, Freetown Sport Promoters at the Attouga Mini Stadium, Kissy Sport Promoters at Milend field, Atlantic Sport Promoters at Angola Town field, the KTee Field sport promoters and the Trade Center.

Reasons for the Western Area Football Association’s  decision was not stated in their public statement but they have summoned an emergency meeting with the oganisers scheduled for today, Tuesday, 7th March, 2017 at the WAFA secretariat Siaka Steven Stadium Hostel.

“The public is hereby requested to be patient as WAFA shall do all in its powers to control football activities in the Western Area. The Sierra Leone police are kindly requested to monitor the mentioned leagues and to arrest and prosecute any person that will go against this instruction,” the WAFA statement signed by their secretary General, Kashor Holland-Cole reads.

Meanwhile, the WAFA decision could not be connected to the recent tournament organised by the Tottenham Hotspurs Foundation, whose tournament ended last Sunday at the Siaka Steven Stadium as the orgainsers failed to present the mini-van as the tournament star prize.
