Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has Wednesday, November 15th 2023, launched the Makolo-Mabang Road construction project, at a simple but colorful ceremony at Songo Town.
Speaking on behalf of His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio who was unavoidably absent, Dr. Juldeh Jalloh told the gathering that his boss’ dream of connecting the entire country through roads, is gradually coming to fruition. The Vice President expounded on the on the importance of roads, saying that it connects the country, enhances access to energy and eases internet connectivity for improved work performance.
He reminded the people of the commissioning of the Ella Koblo Gulama Bridge in 2022, by President Bio and his promise to them of paving the road leading to the bridge, adding that today’s launching was a fulfillment of that promise.
The mercurial Vice President lauded the efforts of the European Union in actualising government’s development aspirations, and heaped special praises on the EU Head of Delegation in Sierra Leone Ambassador Manuel Mueller for his unflinching support to the people of Sierra Leone. Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh assured the people that the Mabang Road will be extended to Shenge and other parts of the country.
Earlier, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development Md. Kenyeh Ballay dilated on the crucial role her Ministry is playing in crafting the development paradigms of the government of President Bio. She thanked staff of National Authorising Office, the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, and other partners for their relentless efforts at mobilizing funds for the actualization of the road construction. Md. Ballay expressed her desire to see the road connect to Shenge.
The Director General of NAO Mr. Ambrose James delved into the beginning of the road construction, tracing it to the construction of the Magbele and Mabang bridges and the remaining funds from the said projects that are now used for the construction of the road.
