VB Vejle completes Sheka Fofanah signing

August 5, 2016 By: Sahr Morris Jr in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Denmark first division side, VejleBoldklub, have confirmed the signing of Sierra Leone international striker Sheka Fofanah on a year loan deal with an option to buy.

The Dannish club officially announced the deal in a statement released in both their website and social media.

“VejleBoldklub continues to buildup it squad and has signed a contract with the 18-year-old striker Sheka Fofanah, who has already received debut for the Sierra Leone national team.

“We have followed Sheka Fofanah for a period of training and on Saturday, we saw him play in the U-19 League team friendly match. He is only 18 and has the footballing future ahead of him,” says Steen on the club’s website.

“It says something about the level and the potential that he already has A-national team in Sierra Leone. We will find that he must adapt to our football culture and therefore there will be a period of adaptation before we see the full potential in him,” he says, adding that despite his young age, the striker will go straight into the first team squad.

Fofanah, who has already scored two goals in four matches for Leone Stars, including the stunning overhead kick against Sudan in the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, had been on trial with Swedish IFK Norrkoping during the summer but the trial period was spoiled by a minor injury.

The player’s local agent, Chernor Musa Jalloh, who wished the player good luck, said: “It is an incredible journey for Fofanah who has done very well to reach that point. He is a hardworking player and a good goal getter and I believe he will do well in with the Denmark club.”
