Umaru Bangura returns from injury

November 16, 2016 By Sahr Morris Jnr

Sierra Leone international, Umaru Bangura, has made a return from his second hand operation, playing in a friendly match for FC Zürich 2-0 win against FC Vaduz.

The Sierra Leone national team captain underwent a second surgery on his left finger in October and has been out of action since then, but has now recovered fully to make a return to the FCZ senior squad.

Bangura initially damaged the finger during training before their last Europa league game against Spanish top flight side Villarreal, but returned to the squad in early October and scored his first league goal in Zurich 5-0 thumping of Wohlen at the Niedermatten stadium on 2 October.

The 29-year-old injured the same finger again during the Swiss Challenge League Leaders’ normal training session and was forced to do another operation on the same finger.

While on the sideline, Bangura missed the club’s Europa league group stage clash against Steaua Bucureşti and also the league clash with Aarau. He could be in line for selection in Sunday’s away clash against Servette at the Stade de Genève.

The former Hønefoss and Haugesund joined the Swiss side in August, 2016 when he signed a three years contract from Belarusian side, Dinamo Minsk.
