Secretary General of Union of African Traditional Sports Games (UATSG) Chief Michael Shamus Mustapha has departed the country’s shores for badminton council and Traditional Sports Games meetings in West and Southern Africa.
Mustapha will firstly meet with the Organizing Committee of the 2023 All African Games in Ghana and also with top officials at the Ghanaian sports ministry before traveling to South Africa for Badminton Council meeting.
He is one of few Sierra Leoneans serving in the council of a continental sports federation. He is also a special guest of the president for South Africa NOC.
Other stops will include Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Ethiopia as he will be evaluating projects in these countries and meeting state officials.
Mustapha who is also the President of the Sierra Leone Badminton Association is expected back in Sierra Leone by 2nd week July before possible departure for similar evaluation in Northern Africa.
UATSG is a special continental project designed to safeguard and promote all forms of traditional games in Africa. This project is sponsored and supported by UNESCO, African Union, TAFISA and ECOWAS.
