November 29, 2017 By Hassan Gbassay Koroma

Yusif Abdul Bangura and Bernard Robin yesterday pleaded guilty to one count charge of sexual penetration contrary to the Sexual Offences Act of 2012.

Both accused persons were in the High Court to answer to a charge of sexual penetration in different files, and pleaded guilty before the November High Court Criminal call-over Session presided over by Justice Komba Kamanda.

The prosecution alleges that Yusif Abdul Bangura, in 2016 in Freetown, sexually penetrated a girl under the consent age of eighteen to wit sixteen years.

The prosecution also further alleges that Bernard Robin on 18th July 2017, in  Freetown, sexually penetrated a girl under the consent age of eighteen.

In his plea to the Judge, Yusif Abdul Bangura asked that the court temper justice with mercy, especially now that the victim is carrying a child for him with his family taking care of the said child.

Bernard Robin also pleaded for mercy and informed the court that parents of the victim had knowledge of their relationship and that the victim was groomed to be his wife.

Lawyer O.C. Spencer-Coker from the Legal Aid Board pleaded with the judge to temper justice with mercy, adding that both convicts are first time offenders and that they should be given second chance considering their age as young adults.

Justice Kamanda however adjourned both matters for judgement.
