Jeneba Kemoh and Tamba M. Bayoh yesterday appeared before Magistrate Hannah Bonnie of Court No. 2 for allegedly assaulting a female police officer, last month.

The duo were charged with the offence of assault on police officer contrary to Section 39 of the Police Act No. 7 of 1964.

Police alleged that the accused persons on Saturday 17 June, 2017 at Metchem- Goderich, assaulted Police officer 8806 Sesay Mariam Tity, while on duty.

Earlier police recruit, PC 17228 Sesay Adama, attached to Regional West-Lumley police station, said she was on duty at the  station when PC 8806 Sesay Mariam Tity requested that she accompany her to Metchem and  assist in implementing a bailiff to remove one Mama Bayoh,  mother of the second accused, (Tamba M Bayoh).

The witness said the property belongs to the complainant (Aminata Fofonah) who lives at No. 5 Bush Road Goderich, in Freetown.

She said there was a court order given to Mama Bayoh to vacate the premises, which she refused to comply with.

“Upon arriving at Metchem with the team of police and bailiff officers, we met the first accused, Jeneba Kemoh at her gate using abusive language on the first complainant (Aminata Fofanah),” he said.

She added that when she took the complainant to the truck, the accused threw stone at her and the other police officers that were in the truck.

She further testified that when they returned to the police station, she saw the second complainant (PC 8806) holding the first accused, who later bite the officer at her right hand.

She said both accused persons were arrested and taken to the Lumley Police Station.

The matter has been adjourned to the 1st August, 2017 for further hearing.
