February 11, 2015 By Hawa Amara

Two alleged rapists were yesterday remanded at the Male Correctional Center on Pademba Road after they were charged with sexually penetrating a thirteen (13) year old female.

Mohamed Turay and Hassan Moijueh were arraigned at the Freetown Magistrates’ Court No.2, presided over by Magistrate Albert J. Moody, on two counts of conspiracy to commit a crime contrary to section 43(b) of the Sexual Offences Act 2012 and sexual penetration of a child contrary to section 19 of the Sexual Offence Act 2012.

According to Police Prosecutor Inspector Conteh S., the accused on December 17, 2014, conspired with other persons to commit a crime, sexual penetration, at Macaulay Close, Off Regent Road, Lumley, of a female aged 13.

Inspector Conteh told the magistrate that both the complainant and victim were not in court because they were not notified about the start of the trial, and applied for a subpoena to assemble his witness.

The accused persons were not represented by counsel.

The matter comes up again on February 13, when the prosecution is expected to open its case.
