In a court appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Court No:1, Alpha Y Kamara and Babatunde Decker faced charges of alleged robbery with aggravation.
The two accused individuals were indicted on seven counts, including conspiracy to commit a felony, robbery with aggravation, wounding with intent, wounding, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The charges stem from an incident on December 22, 2023, in Freetown, where the accused persons, allegedly in collaboration with others, conspired to commit robbery with aggravation.
It is claimed that armed with a gun, they robbed Susan Daddy Conteh of various items, including an Apple Laptop Computer, a silver wristwatch, human hair, a universal WiFi device, and cash.
The prosecution also alleged that on the same date and at 37 Edmond Drive in Freetown, the accused persons wounded Emeka Joseph with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Furthermore, it was claimed that they assaulted Henry Emeka Joseph, causing him actual bodily harm. Another robbery charge was related to the accused persons allegedly robbing Gloria Joseph of items valued at Nle 50,000.
Fancies Tommy, an OSD officer, testified that he received a distress call about an armed robbery in Lumley, Freetown, on December 22, 2023. Upon reaching the scene, they found the compound dark, breached the gate, and discovered the first accused sitting under a staircase wearing a black jacket and a black mask.
A search of the first accused revealed various items, and the witness identified him as the one who assaulted a tall man with a cut on his forehead.
The first accused was taken to Lumley police station for further investigation, where he made statements to the police. The defense counsel cross-examined the witness, and the accused were remanded to the male correctional center at Pademba Road in Freetown.
The matter was adjourned to February 23, 2024, for further proceedings.
