Trio remanded for murder

Samuel Kamara, Foday Bangura and Peter Momoh Bockarie were yesterday remanded at the Male Correctional Centre on allegation of conspiracy, larceny and murder.

The trio was before Magistrate Albert Moody of Court No.1 and police alleged that on 4th July, 2017, at No. 67 Regent Road, Lumley, conspired with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit murder.

The police further alleges that on the same date and place, the accused persons murdered one Hawa  Rosalyn Pabai and also entered her dwelling house and stole therein one Blu mobile phone, one Samsung S4 mobile phone, one Sky mobile phone, solar power bank, one United States of America passport book , one America naturalization certificate, all to a total of ten million, six hundred and eighteen thousand Leones, property of the victim.

In another matter, another set of Mountain Cut rioters has also been granted bail in the sum of one million, five hundred thousand Leones each or be sentenced to nine months.

Amadu Barrie, Ahmed Alie Bangura, Abubakar Barrie, Allan Conteh, Saidu Kargbo, Abubakarr Sheriff, Sheku Bangura and Alusine Alpha Sesay were before Magistrate Hannah Bonnie of Court No.2 to answer to three count charges of riotous conduct, disorderly behaviour and throwing missiles.

The particulars of offence stated that the accused persons on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th August, 2016, at Mountain Cut did behave in a riotous and disorderly manner.

It also stated that the accused persons at the same dates and place were found throwing missiles at police officers.

All accused persons pleaded guilty with the exception of Alusine Alpha who pleaded not guilty to the charges, when put to him.

The accused persons were represented by Lawyer A.I. Kamara, J M Jengo, F B Kargbo, O. S. Kamara, T. A. Bangura, M. Sesay, M .Y. Kanu and J. Tobby.

In his plea of mitigation, Lawyer J.M. Jengo stated that the accused persons were first time offenders, who have never been in conflict with the law.
