Teen mother allegedly throws son into sea

Eighteen years old Gbessay Mansaray was on Thursday sent to the Female Correctional Centre for allegedly throwing her one year -old baby, Abu Bakarr Mansaray, into salt water at Yams Farm.

The accused person was arraigned before Magistrate Albert Moody of Court No.1 on allegation of murder contrary to law.

The particulars of offence stated that the accused person on Tuesday 22nd August, 2017, at New York-Yams Farm, threw her one year old son; Abu Bakarr Mansaray into salt water  with intent to kill him.

According to Police report, one Alusine Karim Mansaray of Lower New York, Yams Farm arrested and brought to the police station the accused person on Tuesday 22nd August, 2017, at around 08:00 hr. and reported that the victim was found dead.

It is further alleged that the accused person threw her son alive into the salt water because she was frustrated that the deceased’s father was not taking care of his responsibilities as a father.

The matter was prosecuted by Sergeant 1740 Pearce while matter adjourned for further hearing.

However, the accused person was not granted bail and remanded at Female Correctional Centre.
