Alhaji Thoronka, a tailor, appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No.1 on three charges stemming from an incident of wounding with intent, contrary to Section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, as well as charges of wounding and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contrary to Section 47 of the same Act.

According to the particulars of the offenses, on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Sumaila Town in Freetown, Thoronka allegedly wounded the complainant, Fatmata Simbo.

The first count charges Thoronka with wounding with intent. The second count alleges that he maliciously wounded Simbo, and the third count accuses him of assaulting Simbo, causing actual bodily harm.

The court was unable to make progress on the matter despite the complainant’s presence. State prosecutor Inspector Kadie Taylor requested a short adjournment, which the bench granted.

Magistrate Kekura denied bail to Thoronka, remanding him to the Male Correctional Facility at Pademba Road. The case has been adjourned to June 10 for further hearings.
