Table Tennis: Canadian duo ends Sierra Leone pair hopes

Canadian pair, Marko Medjugorac and Zhen Wang Results on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 ended Sierra Leonean duo, Rene Benjamin and Emmanuel Gboyah, further hopes of playing any matches at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Australia, thanks to 3-0 win in their Men’s Doubles Round of 32 match.

The Sierra Leone duo were no match for the Canadians after losing Game 1 with a score of 11-1 and went on to lose the other two matches 11-4 respectively only to be ranked 17.

Defeat to Medjugorac and Wang brought an end to Benjamin and Gboyah participation in this year’s game as they were also knocked out from their respective Men’s individual battles.

 Gboyah suffered a four straight set defeat 4-0 (11-5, 11-1, 11-4 and 11-5)in the all-West Africa battle to Ghana’s Darek Abrefa on Table 1 to finished with a 44-15 total point.

And also lose to Allie Johnny of Kiribati on Table 7. Despite taking the first game to his advantage 11-6, the Sierra Leonean went on to lose the remaining four matches of the set 7-11, 10-12, 6-11 and 5-11, while Benjamin also suffered a 4-0 defeat (11-3, 11-3, 11-5, and 11-3) to Nigeria’s Bode Abiodun and Takooa of Kiribati.
