Chairman of Mercury International (SL) Ltd. Charity Foundation, Mr. Samir Hassanyeh, 16 May, 2013 presented a cheque of Le 50 million to the executive of Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone (SWASAL) ahead of the Association’s forthcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM), slated for 19 to 21 May, in Makeni.
Presenting the cheque at the company’s headquarter on Krootown Road in Freetown, Chairman Samir Hassanyeh said that they were pleased to once again support the SWASAL Executive organise their AGM.
He said: “This presentation is in fulfillment of our continued support to assist SWASAL not only to hold their AGM but to show we are still working with the Association. This is also part of Mercury International social-cooperate responsibility.”
Mr. Hassanyeh heaped praises on SWASAL for their continued promotion of sports in Sierra Leone and urged members not to relent in their quest to ensure ‘the development of all sports in the country.’
Receiving the cheque, SWASAL President Mr. Frank Magnus Ernest Cole thanked Mr. Hassanyeh for the laudable gesture, adding that the presentation was the company’s biggest financial support towards the association since his administration took office in May 2015.
Cole recalled how few years back SWASAL’s partnership with Mercury International commenced in 2010 and that since then both parties have enjoyed and continue to enjoy better and good working relationship.
He said: “On behalf of my executive, we expressed our thanks and appreciation towards this support and like always we promise to use this money for its intended purpose.”
This year’s AGM theme is: ‘Sports for Sustainable National Development, The role of SWASAL.”
