A son has testified against his father in a murder trial in the Freetown High Court.

Dominic Yembeh Mansaray, a teenager, Wednesday, 6th June, said in court that his father Lamina Mansaray murdered his mother Mabinty Mansaray.

The matter is before Justice Monfred Momoh Sesay.

The accused, a military officer, was charged with murder contrary to law.

According to State Prosecutor Joseph A.K Sesay, the accused on 14 December, 2016, at the Wilberforce Military Barracks in Freetown, murdered his wife.

The witness identified himself as a pupil of Bilingual High School in Freetown and recalled that on the day of the incident, he came home in the morning to find his mother lying on the floor uncomfortably.

“I rushed to my mother and shook her to wake up but she did not and I later ran out of the house to call on my aunt. As I returned home together with my aunt, we met my father and a nurse loading my mother into a vehicle. We joined them and drove to the 34 Military Hospital at Wilberforce,” narrated the witness.

He added that on their arrival in the hospital, a doctor examined his mother and pronounced her dead.

He said his father, who had left the hospital to collect something from home was  brought by military police officers.

While being cross-examined by M. Bawoh of the Sierra Leone Legal Aid Board, the witness told the court that before the day of the incident his parents were quarreling.

The matter continues.
