May 13, 2015 By Patrick J. Kamara

A soldier of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF), 18181556 Foday Turay, deployed in Kailahun, eastern Sierra Leone, and his co-accused, Mohamed Turay, were yesterday sent on remand at the Male Correctional Center on Pademba Road.

The men were arraigned at the Magistrates’ Court No.1 presided over by Magistrate Komba Kamanda on two counts of conspiracy and robbery with violence, contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

Police prosecutor Assistant Superintendent T.B. Zizer alleged that the accused on Wednesday, 6 May used violence to rob one Kabba Bangura of his property valued Le76,000, along Lightfoot Boston Street in Freetown.

The prosecutor then applied for an adjournment as he was yet to summon his witnesses.

Meanwhile, one Abdulai Bangura was also sent on remand by the same magistrate for allegedly defrauding Adama Jalloh and Theresa Kobba of the sum of Le13,190,000 on the pretext that he would facilitate their travel to the Netherlands.

He was charged on separate files.

Both matters were adjourned to 18 May.
