SLPP-North America feeds Ebola orphans, survivors

JANUARY 7, 2015 By Ibrahim Tarawallie

As the country continues to grapple with the deadly Ebola virus disease which has claimed the lives of over 2000 Sierra Leoneans, executive members of the opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) North America branch, on New Year’s Day provided food and drinks to Ebola orphans and survivors at the St. George’s Foundation Home at Grafton, and girls at the Don Bosco Fambul Girls’ Center that have been sexually, emotional and physically abused.

According to the party’s National Women’s Leader, Lulu Sheriff, they decided to celebrate the New Year by providing food for those that have been directly affected by the deadly scourge as well as sexually abused girls, adding: “Let me assure that this will be the start of many supports from the SLPP North America branch.”

She said they were grateful for the opportunity accorded them to associate with the girls, who are victims of sexual abuse, and prayed that God almighty will continue to guide and protect them as they receive care and support from Don Bosco Fambul.

“We will continue to associate ourselves with you because you are our children, and when you are abused, it hurts us so much. Let me assure that when we meet this New Year, this will be one of the projects that we will support,” she assured.

Receiving the donation, Assistant Director of Don Bosco Fambul, Samuel Bojohn, expressed thanks and appreciation to the party’s executive in North America for their support, and appealed for more, as according to him, the girls’ center is one of 11 projects they are currently implementing countrywide.

“On behalf of the entire staff of the institution, let me welcome you to this our Girls’ Center where we provide care and protection for these girls. We really appreciate this gesture from the SLPP North America branch and we hope it will not be a one-off programme. Please continue to come and share your emotion, pain and agony with us,” he said.
