As part of their corporate social responsibility, the Sierra Leone National Shipping Company (SLNSC) and Nectar Sierra Leone Bulk Terminal (NSBT) have jointly donated assorted food items, learning materials and clothing to flood victims at the Brima Attouga Stadium, east of Freetown.
Managing Director of SLNSC, Sonny John, said they were in sympathy with citizens affected by the recent flood, describing the incident as an emergency.
He revealed that the items they donated worth Le40 million and was part of their corporate social responsibility.
General Manager of NSBT, Jim Page, said the donation was a joint venture with the SLNSC to support the flood victims.
He said his company was intent on contributing to the future development of Sierra Leone, adding that they would bring world class skills and expertise to the country.
SLNSC Chairman Board of Directors, Alhaji Manso Kamara, maintained that they have supported the community and contributed at the national level in the fight against the Ebola virus disease.
While receiving the items, Director of Social Welfare in the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs, Francis Kabia, thanked the donors and said victims would wholeheartedly appreciate the goodies.
