SLFA Corruption Trial…

 VP denies misleading Court

December 19, 2017 By Hassan Gbassay Koroma

Vice President of the Sierra Leone Football Association, Brima Manzola Kamara has denied misleading the court, while being cross-examined by defense counsel Brima Koroma.

Kamara, who was testifying against the suspended SLFA president Isha Johanson, denied telling the court untruths about changes in various committees set up by the SLFA Standing Committee document of 2013 to 2017.

Kamara is the third prosecution witness in the matter between the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the suspended president of the association Isha Johansen and National Secretary General Chris Kamara, presided over by Justice Reginald Fynn J.A.

He told the court that members of the committee were selected by the indicted National Secretary General just after the conclusion of FA elections and that names were sent to the executive for confirmation.

He testified that the names were confirmed and approved by the executive, who in turn sent them back to the scribe.

The witness reiterated that several changes had been done with the SLFA Standing Committee list and that he was not aware of the inclusion of one ‘Mohamed Kumba Marrah, a member of the media committee.

He said the committees were not effectively functional as a result of infighting between the association and football stakeholders.

The Anti-Corruption Commission indicted Ms. Isha Johansen and Chris Kamara on eleven counts of misappropriation of donor and public funds and abuse of office contrary to the Anti-Corruption Act 2008 this year. Both accused persons have denied the charges.
