SLCA names squad for World Cricket League

The Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) on Friday released their 14-man squad for the ICC-Africa Division III World Cricket League scheduled for Benoni, South African from 22nd to 24th March this year.

According to the Association, the players were selected by the National Selection Panel (NSP) of the SLCA based on experience, performance and form.

Chief Executive Officer of SLCA, Francis Samura, confirmed that Dr. Javed will coach the team during the tournament, but expressed his disappointment in seeing few faces missing from the squad.

He said: “For me, I respect the decision of the selectors though a bit disappointed for not seeing few faces I would have wished to see. But due to their poor form in the league, they are out of the squad; their absence is also because they have failed to meet the ICC player’s eligibility criteria. All the same, the Panel has selected what we have available.”

The Sierra Leone cricket team will face Swaziland in their first match before taking on Rwanda in the second match of the day. Sierra Leone’s first match against Swaziland is on March 22nd in the morning kick-off, and in the afternoon, they will take on Rwanda.

The selected players include:
