Following the restructuring process by the AMR Gold Exploration Company Board of Directors in the United Kingdom, a Sierra Leonean has been appointed to manage the activities of the company in the country.
Mohamed Sultan Daffae’s appointment as Country Manager came in the wake of the recent sacking of erstwhile directors, Rafael and Israel Shraga from Israeli, who were alleged to have represented as sole owners of company in order to defraud foreign investors.
The company’s Board of Directors held a meeting and passed a resolution, supported by a letter of appointment to two new British directors, alongside Mr. Daffae, to deter the fraudulent plans of the former Israeli directors.
As part of the transformative strides to kick start effective operations, the new Country Manager on Wednesday (November 19) visited the company’s operational areas in Sella Limba and Sanda Loko Chiefdoms in the Bombali district to sensitize community people on the dreadful Ebola virus and explain reasons why the company had ceased operations for three months.
During his visit, bags of rice, bundles of water, twenty gallons of vegetable oil and fire coal, as well as protective gears worth millions of Leones were donated to five quarantined homes.
In his statement during the donation at the Court Barray, Daffae said the gesture was a demonstration of the company’s readiness to support the government in ensuring that the Ebola virus is defeated.
“We are in a crisis period and the President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma is not happy with the current death toll. As a company, we see this as a wakeup call and our Board of Directors have decided to provide all the needed support to our operational areas,” he said, as he requested their inclusion in the Ebola task-force to contain the virus in that part of the country.”
While calling on community stakeholders to continue to provide the enabling environment to ensure sustainable provision of jobs for youth by the company, Daffae appealed to the people to adhere to all precautionary measures put out by health authorities to prevent the Ebola spread.
Receiving the items, Councillor Foday Amara Yansaneh, expressed thanks and appreciation to the company for their immense support.
Chiefdom Speaker, Momodu Kamara, assured the new general manager of the chiefdom’s continued support to AMR Gold, as long as they continue to operate within the ambit of the law.
