Kaikai opens account as Simbo makes Yeni Amasyaspor debut

September 27, 2016 By Sahr Morris Jr.

Sierra Leonean born winger Sullay Kaikai scored his first goal for Brentford on Saturday, but his strike was not enough to avert the Bees from losing out to Wolverhampton in the English Championship.

The 21-year-old, who is eligible to play for both Sierra Leone and England, scored the home side’s only goal of the match as they suffered a 3-1 away defeat at Molineux Stadium.

Wolves took the lead through João Teixeira’s late strike before half time and then doubled the home side’s lead 12 minutes after the break before Kaikai’s 67th minute powerful finish from a tight angle made it 2-1. It was his first goal in four appearances for the Griffin Park side since his loan move from Crystal Palace.

Kaikai’s and Brentford’s joy was short lived, as Ivan Cavaleiro added a third for the home side in the 92nd minute to secure all three points.

Elsewhere in the English League One, defender Alie Sesay was an unused sub for Barnet as they lost 5-1 at Portsmouth.

In Turkey, Sierra Leone international David Simbo was happy to help Yeni Amasyaspor secure a 4-0 victory over Şubat Erzincan GK on Sunday on his debut.

The former Krumkachy Minsk defender signed for the Turkish side for an undisclosed fee in August as he bid to rejuvenate his football career following lack of regular playing time during his spell in the Belarusian top flight league.

Steps further in the Turkish football league, Simbo’s countryman, Alfred Sankoh joyfully played another full time for Denizlispor, who were forced to 2-2 draw by Mersin İdmanyurdu  2-2.

In Latvia, John Kamara played throughout the match but his Riga side were defeated 1-0 by Jelgava, while in Slovakia, Julius Wobay was an unused sub as Olimpija were defeated Radomlje  2- 0.

Kei Kamara had a bitter day in office on Sunday night as his return to Columbus Crew with New England Revolution ended in a 2-0 defeat.
