Medo Kamara makes HJK Helsinki debut

April 5, 2016 By Sahr Morris Jr.

Sierra Leone midfielder, Mohamed Medo Kamara, made his HJK Helsinki debut in Saturday’s 2-0 home win against IFK Mariehamn at Sonera Stadium.

The 28-year-old midfielder, who rejoined the Finnish club from English Championship side Bolton Wanderers, had 80 minutes of action on his debut before he was withdrawn from the match.

Former AIK and Bursaspor striker, Ibrahim Teteh Bangura, was the other Sierra Leonean international that made his debut over the weekend in the Swedish Superettan league as his new club, GIAS, secured a 2-0 victory at home.

Unlike his countryman who had 80 minutes spell on debut day, Bangura only featured for 58th minute.

In Belarus, Leone Stars skipper Umaru Bangura full time action helped his Dinamo Minsk side start their league season campaign on a positive footing with a 0-2 victory over Torpedo Zhodino on the road.

Bangura’s friend and countrymen, David Simbo’s debut for his new club Krumkachy Minsk was delayed as the defender was left out of the squad in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Belshina.

In England, striker Sullay Kaikai continued his goal scoring form for Shrewsbury Town in the English League One, but his 28 strike could not save the day for the home team as they suffered 1-5 trashing by Wigan Athletic.

In the English League Two, Alie Sesay’s Barnet side suffered a 4-2 defeat away to Morecambe, with Sesay having a full time run for the visitors.

In the national league, injury ruled out former Leone Stars captain, Ibrahim Obreh Kargbo, from Welling United’s 1-2 win over Tranmere Rovers.

Sierra Leone right-back, Mustapha Dumbuya, and midfielder Alfred Zagallo Sankoh, were both unused substitutes for Partick Thistle in the Scottish Premier League and Balikesirspor in Turkish League One respectively.

Striker Kei Kamara’s goal drought in the U.S Major League Soccer continued over the weekend as his Columbus Crew side were held to a 1-1 draw by Dallas, and in Sweden’s Allsvenskan league, striker Alhassan Crespo Kamara’s full time show could not help save the day for Örebro SK as they suffered a 0-2 defeat to Djurgården.

Finally, in the Lativia Virsliga, midfielder John Kamara was accorded 80 minutes action for Riga FC, who were defeated 1-0 away to Metta/Lu.
