Kei Kamara scores again

July 21, 2015 By Sahr Morris Jr.

Sierra Leone forward Kei Kamara continues to lead the U.S. Major League Soccer (MLS) goal scoring chart after helping Columbus Crew to a 3-1 win over Chicago Fire on Sunday.

The former Norwich City striker restored the home side’s lead, scoring in the 17th minute as he bagged his 14th goal of the season. Earlier, Federico Higuain’s goal from the penalty spot put Crew ahead before David Accam tied it for Chicago on a free kick in the 9th minute.

But Kamara’s goal eight minutes later restored the home side’s lead. The visitors were reduced to 10 men after Jason Johnson was red-carded for a dive early in the second half. And just seven minutes from full time, Ethan Finley capped the scoring for Crew.

A step below the MLS, another Sierra Leonean striker Shaka Bangura was in action for Atlanta Silverback who held Fort Lauderdale Strikers to a 2-2 draw in the North American Soccer League (NASL). Bangura was replaced in the 55th minute by Pedro Mendes.

In Finland, Hassan Sesay played full time for the second time since returning from injury as his Lahti side registered a 3-1 home win over ILves in the Finnish league (Veikkausliiga).

In Sweden, Mohamed ‘Poborsky’ Bangura also featured full time but could not save AIK from a 3-1 defeat to Helsingborg.

Meanwhile, striker Alhaji Kamara marked his return to the Swedish topflight league for Norrköping who were forced to a 2-2 draw by IFK Goteborg.

Kamara, who returned from a loan spell in Malaysia, was introduced in the 62nd minute as he replaced Nikola Tkalcic.
