Sierra Leone Players Abroad:

Gibo & Zagalo clash ends in stalemate

NOVEMBER 26, 2014 By Sahr Morris Jr.

A clash in the Azerbaijan top flight league involving two Sierra Leoneans, Alfred ‘Zagalo’ Sankoh and Gibrilla Julius Woobay, on the opposing sides ended in a 2-2 draw.

Both Sankoh and Woobay played full time for Khazar Lankaran and Neftçi respectively but it was Woobay’s side that twice came from behind to share the spoil. The Sierra Leonean duo was unable to get their names on the score sheet but rather Sankoh got his name on the referee’s book in the 92nd minute.

There was good news from Turkey as midfielder Khalifa Jabbie made a full recovery from a shoulder injury which had kept him out of the game for two weeks. However, the former FC Kallon and Mighty Blackpool player was left on the bench as his side, Balıkesirspor suffered a 1-3 home defeat to Sivasspor.

Another Sierra Leonean player who was left out on the bench is Notts County full-back, Mustapha Dumbuya, whose side suffered a 1-2 home defeat to Yeovil in the English League One.

In the English League Two, Abdulai Bell-Baggie was not part of Tranmere Rovers’ 18-man squad which suffered a 1-2 defeat at home in the hands of Southend.

In the English Championship, Mohamed ‘Medo’ Kamara also missed Bolton Wanderers’ 1-1 draw with Blackpool after a late return from international assignment.

Greece based midfielder, John Kamara, saw his Apollon Smirnis side’s Monday match against Panegialios and other matches postponed following bad weather condition.
