Sierra Leone Players Abroad:

Buya Turay & IK on score sheet in Sweden

OCTOBER 15, 2014 By Sahr Morris Jnr.

Despite the international break, there were several league actions across Europe and two Sierra Leonean strikers, Mohamed Buya Turay and Ibrahim K. Fofanah a.k.a. IK scored for their respective Swedish First Division clubs.

Turay scored a brace for his side Västerås SK FK but his goals could not help them escape a 3-4 defeat to Vasalunds IF in the Swedish First Division South league.

Turay, who came off the bench in the 46th minute, grabbed his first goal in the 68th minute before Jonathan Böckert scored the team’s second goal of the night. Five minutes later, the Sierra Leonean striker scored his second and final goal of the match.

In the First Division North, former FC Kallon striker, Ibrahim K. Fofanah, scored his second goal in two matches to help Oskarshamns AIK secure a 2-3 away win over Norrby.

Fofanah, who was replaced in the 86th minute, got his goal in the 8th minute of the match.

The other actions in Sweden saw defender Ishmael Koroma play full time for Nyköpings BIS in their 2-4 home defeat to BK Forward, whilst Mohamed Kamanor and Lansana Kamara were unused subs in Umeå FC’s home clash with Huddinge IF.

Elsewhere, winger Abdulai Bell-Baggie played for 76 minutes for Tranmere Rovers as they recorded a 0-1 home victory over Plymouth in the English League II.
