One of the aspirants for the standard bearer position of the ruling All People’s Congress (APC) has observed that  Sierra Leone is at a crucial political crossroads that require someone with energy, desire, vision and willingness to continue the national development agenda of President Ernest Bai Koroma.

The declaration yesterday of Mohamed Chernor Koroma, in addition to over a dozen individual who have declared their intention to succeed the president, will be an added headache for APC delegates. The ruling APC is expected to elect or select its presidential candidate during their national delegates’ conference in Makeni beginning from the 15 to 17 October 2017.

In his declaration message at the party headquarters in Freetown, Mr. Koroma described the 2018 elections as very important moment in the history of the country, adding that he is the fittest among the lot to build upon the tremendous work of President Koroma.

“I decided to aspire for the top position of the APC after careful soul-searching and wider consultations with political advisers, close friends and family members.  As the messenger, I believe the time for the young people is ripe for action, progress and common commitment in taking Sierra Leone to the next level,” he said.

Koroma said his political journey started at a tender age after reading a book titled “Once Upon A Time”, written by the later former president, Siaka Probyn Stevens.

According to him, the inspiration from Dr. Steven and S .I. Koroma has enkindled in him political passion that continues to shape and direct his life.

“My experience in the party has taught me to be humble and to pay enough attention. I have learnt a lot. As a party and a nation, we have common hopes, dreams, aspirations and values,” he noted.

Koroma said he was going into the race with commitment and desire to succeed plus willingness to cooperate with others and the uncompromising need to produce quality results.
