Sierra Leonean golfers, Lamin Turay, has finished in 2 place, tied with Senegalese Lamin Touray, while Essa Farnnel, another Sierra Leonean finished in 3rd place at the just concluded 2021 Sir Dawda Jawara professional Golf Tournament; The Gambia Open Golf tourney in Banjul, The Gambia.
Kamara finished behind Gambian professional golfer, Dodou Kassama, was awarded a trophy and cash prize of 52,000 Dalasi, while, he and Senegalese Lamin Touray were awarded 22,000 Dalasi each, with Essa Farnnel, another Sierra Leonean who finished in 3rd position, was given D11, 000.
Dodou Kassama victory saw him win the tourney for the fifth time after winning the 2014,2016,2018, and 2020.
Idrissa Jammeh finished in 5th position with D4,000, Omar Jadama emerged 6th with D3,000 while Musa Gaye took 7th position with D2,000
Gambia’s Minister of Sports, Bakary Y Badije said, sports bring people together and, the reason why he is committed to sports development in the country.
Ebrima Jawara, President of the Gambian Golf Association, said this year’s tournament is important as it featured international golfers from The Gambia, Sierra Leone, Senegal and Nigeria.
