Sierra Leone begins 2016 Olympic Games preparations

The Sierra Leone Volleyball Association (SLVA) has commenced preparations for the beach volleyball competition ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.

With the regional and zonal qualification series set to commence this month, the SLVA has already invited 12 players – six males and six females – that have commenced training sessions at the Siaka Stevens Stadium in Freetown.

According to Florence Amara, the former beach volleyball team captain, despite the current health situation in the country, they are working according to the guidelines put out by the health authorities, which is why the players are mainly doing physical training and basic volleyball techniques to keep fit as they prepare for the qualifying rounds.

The 12 players invited for training include: Sunny Bangura, Saiba Njai, John S. Kamara, Francess S. Lansana, Patrick Lombie, Abubakarr Ibrahim Kamara, Ishmail Bangura, Bangali Sannoh, Zainab A. Kamara, Aminata Kadiatu Turay, Hawa Kargbo, Josephine Sesay and Isatu Bah.
