Salone youngster named in U.S U-18 men national team

The United States of America (USA) youth U-18 national team head coach Javier Perez has named Sierra Leone and Seattle Sounders FC forward Victor Mansaray in his 20 squad.

The U.S U-18 squad will take part in a training camp in Marbella, Spain from Dec. 11-20 and during the 10-day camp, the team will face the German U-18 squad on Dec. 17 and 19.

Mansaray is amongst the four Major League Soccer (MLS) professionals selected by Perez for thee camping and the other three are Eyrk Williamson of D.C. United, defender Kyle Duncan New York Red Bulls and Malcolm Jones of LA Galaxy.

The 18-year-old became the youngest ever signing for the Sounders FC first-team at the age of 17 when he signed a professional contract in November 2014.

He became the fourth Seattle home-grown player to join the senior squad and on March 21 this year he made his professional debut with USL affiliate club Seattle Sounders FC 2 in a 4–2 victory over Sacramento Republic FC. A week later he made his MLS debut in a goalless away draw to FC Dallas.

Mansaray has already played eight matches for the team, with his first two in a friendly tournament hosted by the Czech Republic, against Hungary and Ukraine. In December 2014, he received his third and fourth caps in two games against the Germany under-18 national team.
