Philanthropist and businessman, Solomon Tucker of SOLET Multi Services Company, located at 3B Lamina-Sankoh Street, has donated assorted stationery items worth millions of Leones to traders who were victims of a fire disaster along Lightfoot Boston Street in Freetown.
Mr. Tucker said he was devastated to learn about their plight on 18 January following an unfortunate fire incident which left 11 business centers completely burnt to ground, and that he felt the need to donate the items to the victim as start-up capital.
“As business partners, we should always be ready to give helping hands to our colleagues. The items worth millions of Leones, and I am sure they will make a good use of the items. It was an unfortunate incident because the traders were not expecting such situation,” he said, adding that other partners should also provide support to the traders to help them restart their business activities.
While receiving the items on behalf of his colleagues, chairman of Maroon Town Stationery Sellers, Sheik Ahmed Suma, thanked Mr. Tucker for his humanitarian assistance, and disclosed that they have found it pretty tough to rebuild their stores and continue their business activities.
He said the donation was timely and requested other individuals to emulate the good example of Tucker. He thanked other members of the public who have made personal donations to the group.
