Robbery convict to spend 7 years in jail

Justice Alhaji Momoh Jah Stevens on Tuesday, 26th February, 2019, convicted and sentenced one Ibrahim Jalloh to seven years imprisonment for robbery.

Bangura was before the court on one count of robbery contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

According to the indictment, the convict on 13th December, 2016, in Freetown robbed and stole from Husainatu Jalloh, a leather ladies bag valued Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Leones, one Samsung Galaxy Note Pad Mobile Phone valued Five Million Leones and a fiscal cash of Three Million Leones and some other items, all to the total value of Eight Million Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Leones.

Justice Stevens said his decision was influenced by the accused persons’ confessional statement to the police and the corroborating evidence from the complainant.

The accused pleaded for mercy, which Justice Stevens considered when handing down judgment.

The judge added that the seven years jailed term was inclusive of the time he had spent on remand.

In another development, at the magistrate court No.1, Magistrate Sahr Kerkura also committed to the High Court one Alhaji Bah for further trail.

Bah was before the court on one count of store breaking and larceny contrary to Section 26 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the Prosecutor, Inspector E. Conteh, the accused Alhaji Bah on Saturday, 8th September, 2018, at No. 48 Kroo Town Road in Freetown, entered into the store of Haja Fanta Daramy and stole therein five toilet seats valued five million, five hundred thousand Leones, eight bags of necklaces valued eight million Leones, and other items all to the total value of fourteen million nine hundred and sixty thousand Leones, property of Fanta Daramy.
