One of the leading innovative and indigenous commercial banks in Sierra Leone, Rokel Commercial Bank (RCB)  has on Friday, February 26th, opened another branch at the Juba junction to serve the entire Goderich Community in Freetown.

The new branch was opened in order for the bank to extend it quality banking services to customers in Freetown and the country at large.

Managing Director of RCB, Dr. Ekundayo Walton Gilpin expressed delight and stated that the opening of the branch in that part of the city demonstrated to Sierra Leoneans and the world at large that they can continue to grow as a bank.

He said the opening of the branch is a determination of excellence to come together and put up an institution that will not only service the immediate environment, but also the country as a whole.

He said RCB was at first was seen as a laughing stock, a bank that was out of fashion and a bank that was going to be dissolved the other day.

“But today,we see it emerges as a strong institution, we see it as a dynamic bank, we see a bank that can show the rest of the world that Sierra Leoneans have what it takes to put good break on the sand of times and ensure that we can leave a legacy behind. For I believe that RC Bank is the last laugh,” he said.

He noted that the bank is rapidly growing today because of the effective regulatory mechanism, right agency, proper governance structure, strong board and the competence and commitment of staff of the bank.

He emphasised the need for Sierra Leoneans to move beyond their comfort zones and compete with other West Africans countries that are doing well in the banking sector, stating that RCB would not be afraid of competitors because the bank is moving far ahead in terms of innovation.

Madam Michaela Mikey, a long-time customer of the bank said she opened an account with the bank in 2001 when she returned to Sierra Leone to study Law.

“I must say that I have been so impressed by the services. I feel like I have a chaser in the bank simply because of the quality services I get in the bank,” she said.

Other dignitaries including the deputy bank governor of the Bank of Sierra Leone made statements at the occasion and heaped praises on the bank and its management for the tremendous gains made over the years.
