Rokel Commercial Bank (RCB) Sierra Leone Limited on Wednesday (October 28) concluded its 43rd Annual General Meeting at the Beccles Davies Memorial Hall, Gloucester Street in Freetown to discuss issues pertaining to the bank’s development.
The main agenda of the meeting was to address issues dealing with especially the Annual Financial Report, and the introduction of the bank’s new board members. The meeting was a success and was attended by mainly shareholders and witnessed by a cross section of members of the media.
The new board members who were introduced include the Chairman – Birch Momodu Conte, and members – Paramount Chief Lahai Mansaray, Hon. Sanie Sesay, Hon. Charles Horton, Major Rtd. Kalawa, Marah Saidu Kebbeh, and Mr. E.A. Lashiteh.
Chairman of the board, Birch Conte, in his opening remarks, commended the shareholders for their full support and large turnout at the meeting. He briefed the shareholders on the successes and challenges faced by the bank this year, and how they hope to increase on its authorized Share Capital.
Mr. Conte called on the KPMG representative to read out the financial report, which the shareholders considered as unfavourable to them. They also raised concerns about some of the things mentioned in the report.
In his response, Mr. Conte promised to address the issues highlighted by the shareholders as he laid emphasis on the adjustments to the Memorandum and Articles of Association of the company, thus promising to inform the Bank of Sierra Leone and the Corporate Affairs Commission respectively on the development.
“I want to assure you that all the concerns you have expressed and other relevant issues will be addressed at our forthcoming emergency general meeting,” he promised.
